Does the Library offer examination proctoring services?
Proctoring services are available at the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library during regular open hours. All exams will be proctored by a Reference Librarian.
What type of exams does the Library proctor?
The Library proctors both print and online exams. Students are responsible for testing the Library's computers in advance of the exam date to determine if the that the City's network firewall does not block or interfere with the exam site. It is recommended that online exams be scheduled well in advance of the deadline in case of unforeseen downtime. Note: the Library cannot proctor exams that use the ATI Testing platform (http://www.atitesting.com/) due to operational difficulties.
Where will the exams be held?
Exams will be proctored on the main floor of the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library. Library staff cannot guarantee absolute silence, privacy, or constant supervision. For online exams, tests will be conducted using a Library Public Internet terminal.
How much does this service cost?
The fee is $50 per exam, or per session of short exams not to exceed three hours, payable by cash or check (made out to City of Torrance). This fee covers photocopying, however any returned mail, FedEx, or UPS charges must be covered by the student or the school in addition to the $50 fee.
How do I schedule an exam?
Fill out the questionnaire below. Please allow a minimum of two weeks for Library staff to schedule an exam.
It is the responsibility of the student to arrange for all test materials to be sent to the library location, call to confirm receipt, and schedule an appointment to take the exam. All deadlines, including mailing, are the responsibility of the student, who should take into account delays in mailing, scheduling a time with the proctor, or days which the library is closed.
If the student is late, cancels the appointment, or fails to appear for the exam, it is up to him/her to reschedule. The Library is not responsible for unforeseen events such as network or equipment failure, lost or delayed mail, or library closure. In the event of absence or illness of proctor, the Library will attempt to reschedule exam to a later date or to assign an alternate proctor contingent upon school's consent.
The student must adhere to all library standards of behavior when taking the exam.
