Can I donate books to the library?
All library locations accept donations of books, DVDs, audiobook CDs and music CDs. Materials are evaluated for inclusion in the collection, and items not added to the collection are given to the Friends of the Torrance Library for their book sales. At this time, the Friends will recycle magazines, newspapers and encyclopedias ; they will techno-trash audio-cassettes and video cassettes. Please be advised that once items are donated, the items become the property of the Library and/or the Friends - there are no restrictions upon how and where the materials are used.
Large donations may be dropped off at the loading dock of the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please call us at 310-781-7595 to have a volunteer bring in your donation. The dock is located in the driveway between between the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library and the Victor Benstead Plunge. There is also a large bin right inside the entrance door at the Civic Center Library where you may place smaller donations. Receipts are provided for individuals who wish to claim a deduction for tax filing.
For questions regarding donation of materials or book sales, please contact the Friends of the Library at (310) 781-7595. Please leave a message, and a volunteer will return your call as soon as possible.
